A book I would recommend, or a writer I would recommend, is Neil Gaiman, and he writes books which are for young people, but they often have quite complex, almost esoteric themes. They’re very interesting, and one I read recently was The Ocean at the End of The Lane, which is... is a story, there are like witches in it, and strange people in it, but it’s written beautifully. And Neil Gaiman is... is well known because he wrote the book Coraline, which was made into a film by Tim Burton (actually, it was Henry Selick – ed), into an animated film.

One of his stories, Coraline, was made into a movie by Henry Selick, while The Ocean At the End of the Lane went straight to the top of the New York Times Best Seller list, when it was published last year. It was later voted Book of the Year in the British National Book Awards.
